  • By air: The fastest way is to fly from your city to  in Dehradun. The average flight time is about 1 hour and 54 minutes. From Dehradun, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Mussoorie, which is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away by road.
  • By train: There is no direct train to Mussoorie. The nearest major railway station is , about 30 km away. From your city, you can take a train to Dehradun and then proceed to Mussoorie by bus or taxi.
  • By road: Travelling by road to Mussoorie by car or bus seems to be the most popular and preferred way. The scenic peaks of Mussoorie make it an ideal road trip destination and many bikers travel from Dehradun to Mussoorie via Saharanpur. There are many AC buses that leave from Dehradun & Delhi to Mussoorie every hour.

  • Afternoon: . Take a thrilling ropeway ride to , the second-highest point in Mussoorie. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, the Doon Valley, and the entire Mussoorie town.
  • Evening: Landour exploration. Drive up to the quieter, charming cantonment town of Landour, just above Mussoorie. Explore the winding trails lined with deodar trees and visit the famous Char Dukan area for snacks like pancakes and bun omelets. 
Day 3: Historical sites and departure
  • Morning: . Visit the former home and laboratory of Sir George Everest, offering panoramic views of the Doon Valley and Himalayan peaks. It is an ideal spot for a picnic.
  • Afternoon: . Head to Mussoorie Lake, an artificial lake on the Mussoorie-Dehradun highway. You can enjoy boating, water zorbing, and ziplining.
  • Evening: Departure. After a final meal and some last-minute souvenir shopping, begin your journey back to Gorakhpur via Dehradun. 
Important travel tips
  • Best time to visit: The summer months from March to June offer pleasant weather for sightseeing. The post-monsoon season from September to November is also excellent, with clear skies and lush greenery.
  • Pack layers: Mussoorie's weather can change quickly. Pack light shirts for the day and warm layers for cool mornings and evenings.
  • Beware of crowds: Mussoorie, particularly the Mall Road and Kempty Falls, can get very crowded during peak season. If you prefer quietude, focus on areas like Landour.
  • Book transport in advance: To ensure a smooth journey, especially the Dehradun-Mussoorie leg, book your taxi or bus tickets in advance.
  • Check weather conditions: Roads to Mussoorie can be affected by heavy rain during the monsoon season (July–September). Check the forecast before traveling during this time.
